2009 Carlton Rotary Art Show

The Rotary Club of Carlton is holding its second biennial art show this year, following its successful introduction in 2007.

Artists are invited to submit work for sale for this important event, which will financially benefit participating artists and various Carlton Community Projects including assistance to migrants, the Carlton Community Early Learning Centre as well as local State Schools.

The Royal Society of Victoria is a heritage listed building and the exhibition will be housed in three magnificent and stately rooms, suffused by daylight. Most paintings and framed works on paper will be exhibited on easels, but larger works will be hung from picture rails.

Ample parking facilities for visitors are provided and during weekends there is ample street parking available.Artists delivering their works can enter the driveway from Victoria Parade.

Entries must be submitted prior to Saturday 3rd October 2009 (see details in the Conditions below or in the pdf form).

Conditions

Work will have to be submitted on Friday 23 October between 9:00 and 12:00 noon.

Entry fee is set at $10 per work submitted and payment should be made to the Rotary Club of Carlton at the time of entry. Artists are required to set their sale price from which a 35% plus GST commission on sale will be deducted by the Rotary Club of Carlton (i.e.: the artist will receive 61.5% of sale price). Please note that GST if applicable (for professional artists) should be included in the artist’s sale price.

In 2008, items sold in the price range from $200 up to $4,500, but no restrictions are imposed on artists in the setting of prices.

Works on paper should be framed and ready for hanging and paintings on canvas stretchers need not be framed but must be suitable for hanging. Please indicate medium (i.e.: print, drawing, water colour, mixed media, etc,).

Profits will benefit the Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre for the education and integration of disadvantaged migrants and asylum seekers, and such other project or projects as the Club may decide in its discretion.

The Artist is responsible for insuring the work/s. The Club will provide security during exhibition hours but takes no responsibility for loss or theft.

Total number of works is limited to 150 paintings/works on paper/prints and maximum framed size is 200 cms width x 200 cms depth. Sculpture work needs to be approved for size and weight on an individual per item basis.

Although no restriction is placed on the number of entries, the club reserves the right to exhibit only those works for which there is exhibition space. NOTE: Works delivered on 23 October without previous lodgement of entry form by 3 October deadline will not be considered for exhibition.
